Blank Canvas Collective was started by musician/rapper/entrepreneur Just John. The native of Scarborough, Ontario, decided to choose a creative path rather than follow in his family’s footsteps as athletes. He began his career as a musician by busking at a variety of locations before recording his own music while still a serious college student. John, through hard work and innovation, established himself as an icon of the Toronto music and art scene. His fame on Noisey, Complex, and at the Art Gallery of Ontario is proof of this. John is sometimes called a “Renaissance Boy” because of his many skills and innovative ideas.

Just John was half of the legendary hip-hop combo Just John x Dom Dias before going solo. They put out three EPs titled “Don I,” “Don II,” and “Don III,” all of which were huge hits. An accomplished group, they wrote “Soundboi,” the official song of the 2019 NBA Playoffs for the Toronto Raptors.

Let’s fast forward to the year 2020, November. On his three-song visual EP, This is Fate, Just John paid tribute to the dreamers and outsiders who have helped John along the way with a song called “A Thousand Corpses.” This, according to Fate, is due to the “process of reinvention.” The story focuses on John’s journey to emotional wholeness and addresses his troubled history. This EP is about him facing his inner demons head-on and winning the battle against them with love and forgiveness.
