Four-piece Yolu surf-rock group King Stingray hails from Yirrkala, North-East Arnhem Land in Australia. With Yolu surf-rock, the band invents a new genre by fusing traditional indigenous melodies with modern music. It is the band Yothu Yindi’s successor album. King Stingray, who play songs with lyrics in both English and Yolu Matha, are the offspring of the renowned Australian band Yothu Yindi. In October 2020, King Stingray released their first song, “Hey Wanhaka,” then on August 5, 2022, they issued their self-titled debut album.
