Canadian indie rock band Kiwi Jr. are based out of Toronto. In 2015, Kiwi Jr. was created by a diverse group of musicians. The band found success after relocating to Toronto from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Islands in the middle of the 2010s, giving its upbeat college pop a unique big-city romance.
In 2019, they started working with Mint Records, and same year, their first album, Football Money, was released to the public. The following year, they inked a deal with respected independent label Sub Pop and started teasing fans with singles from their impending second album, Cooler Returns. In 2021’s January, the record was finally released. The band’s sound was refined on their third album, Chopper, with the help of tighter production and synthesizer additions to numerous tracks. As well as being Dan Boeckner’s first formal production credit, this record marks the first time Kiwi Jr. has collaborated with an outside producer. Sub Pop released Chopper in August 2022, and the band supported it on a limited number of tour dates that year with other label mates Weird Nightmare.
