Andy, who is from the center of country music in Australia, inherited many of our early musical tastes from his parent’s record collection. It wasn’t until Andy left his birthplace, wandered for a time, and eventually settled in Sydney that his passion of the genre began to blossom. Andy learned the craft of storytelling from James Taylor and was “performing sad songs before I was really unhappy.” In 2019, Andy announced his formal signing with I OH YOU via the publication of his first track, Run To The River, to acclaim after becoming well-known in Sydney’s live music bar scene. Following its triple j debut, Consequence of Sound, Chorus & Verse, Elicit Magazine, Vents Magazine, and Enigma all endorsed the song. Since then, the song has been put to ABC Country Radio’s regular rotation and has received great support from Double J, in addition to being included to playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.
As part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Andy began the year 2020 with headlining performances at the Tamworth Hotel from January 23 through January 26, where he performed for his devoted community. Each year, attendance numbers increase as the hype around his live performances picks up, with fans obviously not wanting to miss the opportunity to say they have known him from the beginning.
American villages where males are ruthlessly expected to be stoic and macho are where country and western music usually originates. It seems that songs express emotion because of need. Andy claims, “That’s what pulled me to country music.” His own struggles with anxiety, despair, and the ADHD-related problems are all intertwined as hopelessly as fishing thread. He has lately made strides in his ability to talk openly about all of those topics, however.
The usual Golledge audience is also filled with a tangible feeling of affection. Even though they are a varied group, they often dress in shorts, cowboy hats, and vintage trucker caps to match his style. Additionally, there are undoubtedly similarly undressed people waiting to catch him if he is riding someone else’s shoulders while wearing no shirt or pants.
The newest track from Andy’s first album is called Rescue Me. It’s a wild song of rock ‘n’ roll that brilliantly contrasts Andy Golledge’s skills with his intensity. His band has some of Australia’s top musicians, all of whom participated to the first record, which helps. Andy’s first full-length album, Strength of A Queen, is scheduled for release in March 2022.
Andy Colledge Songs are available across all platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer.
